Mike Holmes Announces Candidacy for North Dakota House, District 43
GRAND FORKS, ND – Republican Mike Holmes announced today, he is seeking election to the North Dakota House of Representatives to serve District 43, pledging to bring decades of experience in energy research and technology development policy to Bismarck.
A recognized leader in North Dakota’s energy and research sectors, Holmes is focused on strengthening the state’s core industries, expanding economic opportunities, and protecting the values that make the state strong. Holmes is running to give District 43 a strong, informed voice and to protect the opportunities that make North Dakota the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
“North Dakota’s economy is powered by our ability to innovate within our core industries — agriculture and energy,” Holmes said. “I’ve spent my career at the intersection of science, economics, and policy, working to protect our state’s energy future. I’m running to ensure District 43 has a representative who understands the mechanics of North Dakota’s success and is ready to fight for it.”
For more than 25 years, Holmes has worked to advance energy technology and industrial development through leadership roles with the Energy & Environmental Research Center and the Lignite Energy Council. He currently serves as Executive Vice President for Research & Development at the Lignite Energy Council.
Holmes earned his undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Chemistry from Mayville State University and a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of North Dakota. He and his wife, Jodi, are proud members of the Grand Forks community, where they raised their three children. The Holmes family enjoys North Dakota’s outdoors, including hunting and fishing.
